So you have go that brand new iPhone-Blackberry-every-other-phone's-ass-kicking Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100). Then congratulations, you are not on the Dark Side. The phone ships with stock Android OS 2.3.3 which has AOS (Android Operating System) bug on-board which drains that giant (1650 mAH) battery. Google's new iteration of the Android OS, version 2.3.4 takes care of this bug. Here's how to get it (you're welcome). It might seem a bit long, but its very easy!
Note: Since I read my friend Fahad's posts alot, I will post in his usual fashion:
What you'll need:- A windows machine (I tested this on Windows7 )
- Samsung (your phone's) USB drivers
- Android 2.3.4 firmware
- Odin Software (to help your computer talk to that beast)
- File (UN)Archiver. I prefer 7-zip or WinRAR
How to Brew: 1. Install the Samsung USB drivers 2. Unzip the main firmware file and you will see these four files
- CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
- GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
- MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
- u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
3. Backup your contacts, text messages and other data from your phone memory. Please note that this procedure doesn't format your internal memory, only messages, contacts and apps will be erased. 4. Shut down Samsung Kies completely if it is running. 5. Run Odin3 v1.85.exe file which you have already downloaded. 6. Power off your Galaxy S2 and wait till it vibrates once to ensure complete switch off
Super Powered Stuff on the easy:
- Go to your phone's downloading mode by holding Volume down key with Home button key and then press power on, now you will see this screen, accept it
- Connect your phone with USB cable
- You should get the message “Added! !” under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
- Check only Auto reboot & F. Reset time in option
- Click PDA Button, and select CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
- Click Phone Button, and select MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
- Click CSC Button, and select GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
- Hit the Start button and let the magic happen
- Wait until your phone gets restart and then unlug the cable as soon as the restart process starts.
- If you have screen lock, you can unlock the screen and the process will continue.
Now Enjoy almost double the battery life you had before and some minor bug fixes. This is tested by me.
