Found this cool kickstarter project while browsing for cool websites.

CloudFTP Structure

CloudFTP is a pocket size adapter that can turn any USB storage device into a wireless file server, sharing files with WiFi-enabled devices (iPad, iPhone, computer etc.). It can also automatically connect to the Internet to backup and synchronize your USB data with popular online Cloud storage services like iCloud, Dropbox and box.net.

Attention! Josh has left

posted Oct 16, 2011, 8:12 AM by Yousuf Maimoon

I am talking about Joshua Topolsky. Editor-in-Chief of the famous Engadget. Yes I know its old news but I didn't find out until I had watched the new Engadget show. Its very sad. I don't have anything against the new editor but I was so comfortable with Josh hosting the show and reading some of his humorous posts that I think he owned the business. If you are sad like me and feel lonely without him on engadget (well I still follow the site because the amount of stuff covered) check out his personal site through the link below.

Supercharge your beastly Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100)

SGS2

So you have go that brand new iPhone-Blackberry-every-other-phone's-ass-kicking Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100). Then congratulations, you are not on the Dark Side.
The phone ships with stock Android OS 2.3.3 which has AOS (Android Operating System) bug on-board which drains that giant (1650 mAH) battery. Google's new iteration of the Android OS, version 2.3.4 takes care of this bug. Here's how to get it (you're welcome).
It might seem a bit long, but its very easy!

Note: Since I read my friend Fahad's posts alot, I will post in his usual fashion:

What you'll need:

  1. A windows machine (I tested this on Windows7 )
  2. Samsung (your phone's) USB drivers
  3. Android 2.3.4 firmware
  4. Odin Software (to help your computer talk to that beast)
  5. File (UN)Archiver. I prefer 7-zip or WinRAR

How to Brew:

    1. Install the Samsung USB drivers
    2. Unzip the main firmware file and you will see these four files

    • CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
    • GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
    • MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
    • u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit

    3. Backup your contacts, text messages and other data from your phone memory. Please note that this procedure doesn't format your internal memory, only messages, contacts and apps will be erased.
    4. Shut down Samsung Kies completely if it is running.
    5. Run Odin3 v1.85.exe file which you have already downloaded.
    6. Power off your Galaxy S2 and wait till it vibrates once to ensure complete switch off

Super Powered Stuff on the easy:

  1. Go to your phone's downloading mode by holding Volume down key with Home button key and then press power on, now you will see this screen, accept it
  2. Connect your phone with USB cable
  3. You should get the message “Added! !” under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
  4. Check only Auto reboot & F. Reset time in option
  5. Click PDA Button, and select CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
  6. Click Phone Button, and select MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
  7. Click CSC Button, and select GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
  8. Hit the Start button and let the magic happen
  9. Wait until your phone gets restart and then unlug the cable as soon as the restart process starts.
  10. If you have screen lock, you can unlock the screen and the process will continue.

Now Enjoy almost double the battery life you had before and some minor bug fixes. This is tested by me.

The Switch

No I am not talking about the movie!

I was a religious chrome user, just because of the simplicity offered. But FireFox 4's features have me sold out. Sure (at rare times) it can be a tad bit slower, but it offers extensive customizable options on top of everything chrome has to offer.

One of the major points that it got me sold out was the FireFox Sync, not only amongst desktops but also on my MOBILE PHONE!

Get your FireFox 4 Here.

Ubunty 11.04 Unity Lancher - Resize Icons

posted Apr 1, 2011, 12:49 PM by Yousuf Maimoon   [ updated May 12, 2011, 8:20 AM ]

If you are an avid Ubuntu user like me and have upgraded to the new 11.04 version, you now know that the icons on the left hand side Launder panel cannot be resized. Well there is a work around this, and a pretty easy one. Hit the source link to solve this easy but (sometimes) annoying problem.

Its always a great relief when you want to have more icons on that launcher panel.

Quick tip: Hold down the super (windows) key to bring launcher panel back in focus and you will see numbers on each icon. You can hit that number while still pressing the super key to go to or open that application

A Car, or two.

posted Apr 1, 2011, 12:27 PM by Yousuf Maimoon

Due to technical issues, I am not able to watch the F1 race which I follow religiously. I am also devoted to Top Gear (the proper English one!), and so it would be obvious that I would invest my time in automobile online too. Here comes Autoblog. Most of the car fanatics are followers of this wonderful blog for its accuracy and fun feeling read.

I am not a huge fan of American cars, but gun-to-my-head it would be the good 'ol Vette! So this video below is something that I would like to share in that space.

The Good Stuff!

Its the Cayman! Cayman R, to be exact. To say I am in love with Porsche's would be an astronomical understatement. The first time I sat in my friends 2004 911 Turbo, I was sold. Not that I have that kind of money to buy even his used Porsche, I would like to position myself to be able to in the future. Caymans are absolutely sexy. Here is what I am talking about.

Black Beauties

So I read somewhere online that for mobile devices, a dark wallpaper might actually help the battery life. Now I got it for my Nexus One, but when I tried to apply the same logic for my MacBook Pro, I ddin't realize the battery-life change but the variety I found was lovely and I found this link with superb wallpapers.
Obviously Dark Knight wallpaper was my favorite at first sight. Have a look!

Your Dream Phone!

After seeing this even iOS, and Blackberry users will switch to Android. I mean 3 Super-AMOLED screen which take the triangular shape and can be folded in other patterns, how does that no appeal to you. Sadly, its just a render. So enjoy the pictures and the Video.
